FIRE SAFETY

We want you to keep your family safe from fire. Be aware of the hazards in your home. Take steps to prevent fires, and prepare yourself and your family to respond in the event of an emergency.

Home fire hazards

Cooking equipment is the leading cause of house fires and home fire injuries. Smoking is the leading cause of home fire deaths. Heating equipment – such as furnaces, fireplaces, or space heaters - is the second most common cause of home fire fatalities.

Fire safety education

For kids: Sparky the Fire Dog has games and activities to teach kids about fire safety.

For seniors: Older adults are twice as likely to be injured or killed in a fire, according to the National Fire Protection Association.
